Dysarthria

People with dysarthria may have slow or slurred speech, and therefore affecting speech intelligibility. Our speech therapist will provide treatment to patients depends on the cause and symptom severity, and the type of dysarthria one may have.

Possible signs

  • Weak oro-motor coordination and skills, e.g. showing weak strength and insufficient range of movement in lips, jaw or tongue

  • slow and slurred speech 

  • Difficulty in changing pitch or volume of voice

  • Monotonous

  • Hoarse, breathy or rough voice
